241 Broad Street West in Dunnville, Ontario, is home to the historic Lalor Estate, constructed in 1905 by Francis Ramsey Lalor, a well-known local businessman and philanthropist. Designed in an Edwardian style, the estate includes a two-and-a-half-storey brick house, a wrap-around porch, a distinctive gabled roof, and seven unique fireplaces. In 2004, the estate was designated as a heritage property due to its architectural and historical value, safeguarding both the home and Lalor’s lasting influence on the community.
The current owners are committed to carefully restoring the Lalor Estate, preserving its original charm and character. As part of this restoration, they sought a durable and cost-effective solution for replacing the aging slate roof. The Haldimand County Heritage Committee, under the Ontario Heritage Act, approved the re-roofing project ensuring that the work aligned with the preservation of the estate’s heritage. To meet the project’s needs, we recommended the Armadura Steel roof in the premium Heritage Mountain Slate colour, which not only complements the estate’s historic appearance but also provides the long-lasting durability required to protect the home for years to come.
